How Do You Compare SEO Marketing Service Packages in Montreal?

514IT Editorial Team8 min read

The short answer

To compare SEO marketing service packages in Montreal, put each offer side by side on five points: what work is delivered (pages, Google Business Profile, technical fixes), whether it covers French and English, what is one-time versus monthly, how results are reported, and what the contract says about length, cancellation and who owns your accounts.

Compare price last. Two packages at CAD $1,000 a month can include completely different work, and the cheaper-looking one is often the one with the vaguest scope.

What kinds of SEO packages do Montreal agencies sell?

Most offers fall into four shapes. A one-time SEO audit tells you what is wrong and in what order to fix it. A local SEO package focuses on your Google Business Profile, your name, address and phone consistency, reviews and service pages for the areas you serve. A website plus SEO package builds or rebuilds the site with the keyword mapping and technical setup done from the start. A monthly SEO retainer pays for ongoing work after that: new pages, fixes, content and reporting.

Many packages mix these. That is fine, as long as the proposal says which parts happen once and which repeat every month. If a proposal only says “SEO optimization” with a monthly price, ask for the list.

What should a Montreal SEO package include?

At minimum: keyword research in both French and English, with each important search mapped to one page on your site. Technical setup such as a sitemap, structured data, page speed basics and hreflang tags so Google knows which page is the French one. Work on the pages that should rank, usually your service pages, not just the homepage. Your Google Business Profile, if you serve local customers. And tracking in Google Search Console and Google Analytics, with calls and form submissions counted as conversions.

Reporting should talk about calls, quote requests and form fills, not only rankings. A ranking report on phrases nobody searches is easy to make look good.

If you are not sure where your site stands, an audit before choosing a package saves money. Our guide on how much an SEO audit costs in Canada covers what a useful audit includes.

How much do SEO packages cost in Montreal?

There is no official price list, and prices vary with site size, competition and how much writing and development is included. For a benchmark, Ahrefs surveyed 439 SEO providers: the most common monthly retainer worldwide was US$501 to US$1,000, but 79.1% of providers in the United States and Canada charged at least US$1,001 a month. The most common hourly rate was US$75 to US$100.

One-time audits for a small business site usually cost a few hundred to a few thousand dollars, depending on the number of pages and the platform.

In Quebec, check whether a quote includes taxes. GST (5%) and QST (9.975%) are added on top of most prices, which is almost 15% more than the number on the proposal.

How do 514IT’s SEO packages compare?

Our prices are published on the packages page so you can compare them with other quotes. They are starting estimates before tax, and we confirm the final price in writing before any work begins.

The Basic Website starts at CAD $799. It is a website, not an SEO package: it includes basic titles and meta descriptions, but no keyword research. Website + SEO starts at CAD $1,499 and adds keyword research and page mapping, technical SEO setup (sitemap, schema, speed basics), Google Search Console and Analytics, and the first 30 days of monitoring. Website + SEO + Google Ads starts at CAD $2,499 plus monthly ad management. Google Business Profile setup is an add-on starting at CAD $150.

Already have a site? We can quote monthly SEO on your existing website after a short call. SEO and Google Ads management are billed monthly and can be paused or cancelled with notice.

Which questions expose a weak SEO package?

Ask: which page will target which search? What exactly happens in month one, and what happens every month after? Who does the work, and is any of it outsourced? Do you write and optimize in French as well as English? Whose name are the Google Business Profile, Search Console, Analytics and Ads accounts in? What happens to my site and accounts if I cancel?

Walk away from any package that guarantees a ranking. Google’s own guidance says no one can guarantee a #1 ranking. Be careful, too, with packages built on hundreds of directory links or one copied page per neighbourhood. Google treats mass-produced pages like that as spam.

How to compare two SEO quotes side by side

Make a simple table with one column per agency and these rows: work done in the first month, work done every month after, languages covered, how results are reported, who owns the accounts, contract length and notice period, price before tax, and taxes.

Fill it in from what is written in each proposal, not from the sales call. Wherever a cell stays empty, ask the agency to put the answer in writing. The offer with the clearest written scope is usually the better buy, even if it costs a little more.
